New Painting Unveiled to Mark King Charles and Queen Camilla’s Visit to Jersey

A new portrait celebrating King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s 2024 visit to Jersey has been officially unveiled by the Princess Royal during a ceremony in St Helier.

Painted by Jersey artist Jason Butler, the artwork captures the royal couple walking through Royal Square amid heavy rain, warmly greeting islanders who gathered to see them on 15 July 2024. The moment, Butler said, reflected the “genuine enjoyment” of the King and Queen during their first visit to the island as monarch and consort.

“The image of them walking through the rain, smiling and engaging with islanders, felt like the truest reflection of that day,” the artist explained.

The King’s 2024 visit marked the first time a reigning sovereign had travelled to Jersey since Queen Elizabeth II’s visit in 2005.

Bailiff of Jersey Robert MacRae said the portrait will serve as a lasting reminder of the historic occasion. Princess Anne’s visit to the island continues through Wednesday.
