Royal Collection Trust Unveils Exquisite Queen Elizabeth II Centenary Chinaware Collection

As the 100th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's birth approaches in 2026, the Royal Collection Trust has launched a stunning new range of official chinaware and homeware inspired by the late monarch's most iconic wardrobe pieces.

The Queen Elizabeth II Centenary range went on sale November 7, featuring an exclusive collection of fine bone china that draws its motifs from the patterns and intricate embroidery seen on some of the Queen's most memorable dresses. The collection serves as a beautiful tribute to a monarch whose style and elegance captivated the world for over 70 years.

The new products take their inspiration from Queen Elizabeth II's extraordinary wardrobe, which has now become part of the Royal Collection under the care of Royal Collection Trust. Approximately 200 items of clothing, accessories, and archival materials will be displayed in Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style, a major exhibition opening at The King's Gallery, London, in April 2026.

At the heart of the chinaware range are symbols deeply connected to the United Kingdom: roses, shamrocks, thistles, and daffodils. These emblems were focal points of Norman Hartnell's legendary design for the Coronation dress worn by the young Queen in 1953, making them instantly recognizable to royal enthusiasts.

The colour palette of the collection—sky blue, foxglove pink, daffodil yellow, and leaf green—pays homage to a fascinating piece of royal fashion history. When Norman Hartnell presented the Queen with nine designs for her Coronation dress, she selected the eighth but made a significant suggestion: the embroidery should be in colour rather than exclusively in silver and gold. This personal touch from the young monarch is now reflected in the vibrant hues of the centenary range.

Fine bone china mugs and side plates, both available in all four colourways, feature the rose, shamrock, thistle, and daffodil motifs, creating beautiful everyday kitchen accessories that honour this royal heritage.

Another highlight of the collection draws inspiration from the wedding dress designed by Norman Hartnell for the 21-year-old Princess Elizabeth in 1947. The ivory silk and satin gown featured crystals and seed pearls hand-embroidered in the pattern of wheatsheaves—a motif now repeated on a pink fine bone china tankard in the centenary range.

For collectors, the range includes elegant fine bone china teacups and saucers, as well as a pillbox featuring the intricate designs.

Central to the design of a limited-edition coin and seen throughout the range is the EIIR cypher, which featured on Her late Majesty's Robe of Estate, also worn for the Coronation. This iconic symbol serves as a unifying element across the collection.

True to royal tradition, all official Royal Collection Trust chinaware is made in the United Kingdom. Each piece is cast, fired, and decorated by hand according to traditional techniques that have been at the heart of the British chinaware industry in Stoke-on-Trent for the past 250 years. Every piece is finished with 22-carat gold, ensuring lasting quality and elegance.

The symbolic floral pattern adorns not only the chinaware but also complementary items including embossed teaspoons, a tea towel, and a velvet tree decoration.

Rounding out the collection are tea caddies containing a specially created blend of Earl Grey tea and a biscuit tin of Scottish shortbread. The reusable tins are manufactured in London using solar power, reflecting a commitment to sustainability.

Kaneesha Bose, Head of Central Retail at Royal Collection Trust, explained the inspiration behind the range: "Queen Elizabeth II's fashion archive is one of the largest and most important surviving collections of 20th-century British royal fashion. The exceptional craftsmanship and care that went into the creation of each item in the late Queen's wardrobe has served as the inspiration for the products in this centenary range, from keepsakes to pieces like the teaspoons that can be used every day."
